Grand Théâtre Pão e Circo é um espetáculo teatral independente Com direção, roteiro e atuação de Carolina Kahro, atriz premiada no Prêmio Braskem de Teatro, o espetáculo estabelece uma analogia entre os antigos “Anfiteatros: Pão e Circo”, arenas romanas onde o sangue de gladiadores e cristãos era derramado para entreter o imperador e seu povo, e a mídia atual – nossos modernos “Freak-Shows”.

Com apelo à plasticidade e à contundência narrativa, o monólogo funde elementos performáticos a recursos audiovisuais (em sua maioria registros telejornalísticos verídicos) na elaboração de um discurso provocador, livremente inspirado nas teorias da Sociedade do Espetáculo, do filósofo francês Guy Debord.

Grand Théâtre Pão e Circo is an independent theatrical show Directed, scripted and performed by Carolina Kahro, an actress awarded the Braskem Theater Award, the show establishes an analogy between the old “Amphitheatres: Bread and Circus”, Roman arenas where the blood of gladiators and Christians was poured to entertain the Emperor and his people, and the current media – our modern “Freak-Shows”.

With an appeal to plasticity and narrative forcefulness, the monologue merges performative elements with audiovisual resources (mostly true telejournalistic records) in the elaboration of a provocative speech, freely inspired by the theories of the Society of the Spectacle, by the French philosopher Guy Debord.
